Posted 8th December 2004 00:02 | | | Ok, word is Tuesdays are GameShadow nites.Yesterday (despite what the forum clock says, it was yesterday) Cannonfodder (CF), Tenacious (T) and I had a UT 2k4 session and it was an overall success.First off we started with Bombing Run. I won the first match. We had some real fun with Cannonfodder shooting at his own teammate (ME!). After CF joined so did a few other players, by this point another match had started. We were getting slaughtered, the other team was more coordinated and had a nasty habbit of killing us with the lightning gun before we had half a chance to pick up a decent weapon or two.We soon moved on to Deathmath. We had two or three games. Cannonfodder and I spent much of it chasing a Camper. I was trying to take out the two top players as they seemed to be working as a team only to get caught up in T's unforgiving line of fire.Seeing as Tuesday nights are good for a number of us we are inviting other players to come along.Hopefully with some practice and coordination we can form a decent GameShadow Clan.I was thinking ShadowGamers as the name but it is open for debate.Hopefully we'll see you on Tuesdays.

Good work Max - c'mon guys, we see new members added practically every day, so we should be able to build a really good group..

| Posted 8th December 2004 13:21 | | | As we were playing normal deatchmatch and not team deathmatch, I was of the opinion that anyone was fair game. Madmaxquinn is just bitter that I killed him lots I was second in the first deatmatch to an incredible 'player' and then sucked in the second deathmatchAm I not right in thinking that UT stores your stats locally? I know that in the first one, I could open up a offline browser which html'd all the stored stats and I could browse at my leisure. Does this no longer exist [:0] We (sort of) successfully implemented using Xfire. One problem is 3-way chatting...it doesn't yet exist for Xfire Oh yeah and the really annoying alert beeps and sounds that it makes for messages etc don't help! And another thing, playing Sid Meier's Pirates! meant that Xfire didn't interupt me (or indicate what game, if at all, I was playing) so I left Madmaxquinn hanging around for a while! Apart from those very minor gripes, it was all good, particularly having a IM conversation whilst I was looking for a server and Madmaxquinn and CF were waiting). Just out of interest, Madmaxquinn / CF, did it let you join direct from the xfire window, or did you have to go into the game normally (I had to use the buddylist in UT2004 to find which server Madmaxquinn was on)? It wasn't until all the carnage had subsided that we logged into MSNger and had a decent warm-down IM conversation

I think in game you can message anyone you like using /msg (need to read the help file) but some people have really long (me) or real weird names like -@NoBoDy@£=-I don't know about the stats thing. With the first UT you had to sign up for it and have it enabale i.e. logging. To be honest I don't think the stats mean squat unless you are in an official tournament or playing against players of the same capabilities as yourself. Sure I was higher up in one game and T in another but we were playing some real pros making it really difficult to quantify who did well in what game. The Sid think is probably down to the fact the game isn't supported yet. quote: You sucked?!!
was my comment to Cannonfodder after the first Bombing Run match. First of it was me and Tenacious playing one on one and I was winning 13-0, then Cannonfodder joined and started shooting at me. I then returned fire with the flak cannon but friendly fire was on so instead of killing him all I managed to do was allow the other team to score a couple of goals in the mean time.

I think we should allow things in the past to remain in the past.... Oh, BTW am now proud owner of headset in anticipation of GS clan loveliness..

No, seriously it was in respose to T's "It wasn't until all the carnage had subsided that we logged into MSNger and had a decent warm-down IM conversation". I just remember starting my private message to you with the aformentioned statement.
I do like Bombing Run though, although I couldn't see anyone hosting the map I usually play on and hence why we were playing on one of the harder ones. If you could become familiar with the mechanics of that particular game play we can enjoy it more often. Basically it is a cross between Tag and BasketBall. The aim is to score as many points as possible by getting the ball into the "net".

| Posted 8th December 2004 20:23 | | | Yep - fully intend to watch the tutorial and get some practice in. I understand the concept of BR - it was just I could never find the ball, and then that Unreal bloke kept frying me the instant i showed my face....
In fact, since Tuesday, there are now these voices in my head that keep saying "must. practice. more." at every given opportunity. I can't shut them up!!
One thought though - I really like these post game threads for discourse, but do you think we should keep a 'clean' GS clan recruitment thread open, with less banter..?(I know that whenever I see a thread with loads of posts, I'm often a bit reluctant to join in)
EDIT - which is probably what you had in mind, so don't worry, I'm fully aware that I contribute to the length and chatty nature of these threads!!
