Lionman09 Jan, 2009 23:14I have been flying MS Flight5 simualtors since they began 25 years ago and until FSX came out I considered FS9 2004 ACOF the absoilutely best MS civilian flight simulator ever but FSX is definitely better. However you need a state-of-the-art killer rig to really appreciate how much of an upgrade it is from 2004. I am glad to say that I have such a rig and can run FSX with all the sliders maxed out and it is awesome. As a life long sim pilot, Microsofts flight models could still do with improvement and aerodynamically X-Plane 9 is still the better sim from a pure techical aviation perspective but FSX leads its field for eye candy by a mile.Since flying FSX I have stopped adding freeware aircraft and only install the very best near photo-real payware add-on aircraft with dynamic cockpits from suppliers such as Carenado, Dreamfleet, Flight 1, Abacus, Feel There etc. WHy? Because you don`t add canvas to a silk suit and I want all my aircraft to look and fly as well as the FSX defaults.I can especially recommend ALL the Carenado fleet, ALL the PMDG Fleet, all the FSX Dreamfleet planes and the Twin Otter, Beaver (even better than the excellent default Beaver) the Pilatus, the Dornier 27, the ME 109, Spitfire, the Marchetti SF 260, I also recommend ALL the ORBX Australia scenery packages and airports which are exceptional. It is a waste of time buying FSX if you have no proper flight controls as flying any aircraft with a keyboard is like surfing by phone - you can`t. I recommend SAITEK Pro flight Yoke, quadrant and control panel, plus a second yoke if you can afford it and SAITEK or CH pedals.Get FSX because it is awesome.
thomas068827 Mar, 2009 22:30I likes this version, I have played flight sim 2000 and it was okay until I saw the x version in the store one day I bought it played it and I love it. everything looks so realistic.
saruman18 Jun, 2009 20:45Where as I use BOB II for letting off steam and having fun I use FSX for a wonderfully relaxing experience. You can make the realism as high as you like but at the end of the day the fact is that learning to fly is not hard!! Even navigation is a whole new learning curve that doesn`t bore or try your patience. Real time flying in all sorts of aircraft over the whole globe. Only 4.5 stars though as not enough is made of 3D landscape possibilities.
