Bioshock is the spiritual successor to Irrational's System Shock 2. It offers similar plot development and emphasis on horror and atmosphere, though makes the switch to FPS from RPG. Rapture, the underwater setting for the game, was constructed as an idealistic society for a hand picked group of scientists, artists and industrialists, but the idealism is no more. Now the city is littered with corpses, wildly powerful guardians roam the corridors as little girls loot the dead and genetically mutated citizens ambush you at every turn.

Tom_120187210 Apr, 2008 09:53It`s a great shooter. It`s gorgeously detailed beyond all compare. It just doesn`t quite live up to the hype - gameplay is repetitive, story is basic and predictable, the ending is awful (in both gameplay and narrative terms)... it`s great, but I expected a lot more.

SMK12327 Apr, 2008 10:34WOW! Thats what I first said 5 minutes into Bioshock, this isnt just a mindless shoot em up, this is beatiful piece of artwork, although it is a great shoot em up! I`ve played and completed it 7 times and I`m not stopping until Bioshock 2 is out. But please tell me, why is there no online play?
[Anonymous]29 Jun, 2008 16:25It`s a wonderful game that I just have to keep going back to play. The only issue I have is that I can`t find the "third" ending I`ve heard about. Other than that, the visuals are staggering (can`t wait to see them on my 3870`s instead of my 1950`s), the world it wonderful, and the game play great. I would have loved more "open" levels, with more options, like in the garden. While everything else was more linear, it didn`t always feel like it (i.e.: the museum).

Kaffo26 May, 2009 20:20I loved this game, everything about it was fantastic, the graphics, the atmosphere, the weapons.But I can`t play it again, I know what happens but it`s just got no replay value, this would be a 10 guys but because of the replay value I can`t.Get it to play it once considering the price now.
BitzaDoggy18 Jul, 2009 09:37A game with great beuty, characteristic design, great story, novel weapons. Yet I could never help feel that it was missing something that made it truly fun. I suppose if pushed I`d name this ethereal quality "emersion".
